Eric Carrazedo de Andrade (1987, São Paulo) has devoted himself entirely to painting and sculpture since 2019. He has been developing the series The World Went Bananas! since 2020 — an investigation into the collapse of human consciousness in a world that has learned not to recognize itself.
Grounded in Guy Debord's theory of the spectacle, his work draws from the serial precision of pop painting and the seduction of the mirrored surface — only to subvert them. The banana is not ornament: it is symptom. The rotary phone is not nostalgia: it is the image of human communication in the 21st century — formally present, functionally empty.
From canvas to monumental sculpture in polished stainless steel, the image is always the same: the banana, the obvious screaming. A mirror that does not seduce — it distorts. That does not flatter — it returns the question.
